I'm building a home here

Everyone needs a place to stay.

A home is where we return when we lack things to hold onto.

Governments lie to us. CEOs sacrifice us. Parents misunderstand us. What we once put our faith in can throw us under the bus. Some of us turn to religion or pine for a past that once served us, as many newcomers to the Chinese workplace do these days. And I doubt it's any different anywhere else.

Nothing anymore reassures us.

So instead of waiting for the world to become a better place, I've decided to build one of my own.

A place away from a reality that mostly drains and saddens me. A place where I get to keep everything I've learnt and thought about, doubted and questioned, and maybe built.

There'll be language and learning here, books, and whatever else matters.

Oh wait. Isn't that what we call "home"? Aren't we all on the path back to the Garden of Eden, whatever it represents and means in this lifetime?

What will be gone will be gone. But the remnants might remain. What remains becomes the flesh we mortals carry, and who says the soul can't have a body?

A body of words.

Welcome, then, fellows.
